The Partnership for Youth & Family Ministry is serious about serving children by empowering congregations and families... in other words; our commitment is to help you keep your Baptismal promises. We do this by:

1) Having a clear core value system that supports the partnership between the church and the home
2) Advocating for a Safe Haven for all children in congregations
3) Teaching and practicing the Four Keys for faith formation in all we do (by Dr. David Anderson and Dr. Paul Hill in Frogs Without Legs Can?t Hear)
4) Teaching Milestones Ministry, modeled at many of our congregations and integrated into all our practices
5) Training adults to work with children in the congregation and at home though consultation, coaching and conferences
6) Supporting continuing education through the Children?s Ministry Network
7) Supporting Lutherhill Ministries as they host summer camp and other programs

But it?s not enough!

Did you know that nearly one in four children live in poverty ?and the number is rising? 17.6 percent of Texas children live in poverty ? the sixth highest poverty rate in the nation.

Poorer children are more likely to arrive at school unprepared to learn, due to inadequate meals, little or no healthcare and irregular adult care. Children are more likely to be poor if they live in single-mother families.

If we don?t get involved, the kids we care so much about right now will grow up to be adults who are unable to support their own families.

Christian churches have the capacity to serve children and families in poverty. Every congregation can impact the community by using the assets they already have for more than congregational members. It makes a difference when you make room for low-income families to bring their children to your preschools, after school programs and summer camps. Parents, especially single parents, need support groups and other kinds of assistance your congregation can offer.

What if every congregation had at least one way they supported children living in poverty?
MORE INFO
Hear, O Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.

Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deut. 6:4-9
